EXPLORATION ON THE MECHANISM OF COAL DESULFURIZATION USING MICROWAVE IRRADIATION ACID WASHING METHOD

摘要
The transformations of Fe-S compounds intrinsic in coal before and after the microwave irradiation/acid-washing treatment were examined by Mossbauer spectroscopy of Fe-57. The results for phase analyses show that the microwave heating can induce in situ thermo-desulfurizing reactions between pyrite and its surrounding reactants present in coal and that the pyrite was converted into the HCI-soluble species both pyrrhotite Fe1-xS (0 < x less-than-or-equal-to 0.125) and troilite FeS after microwave exposure. A 97% decrease for inorganic sulfur content in coal was achieved by increasing the irradiation time to 100 seconds and combining with successive acid-washing treatment.
