ENHANCED PHYTOCHROME SENSITIVITY AND ITS REVERSAL IN AMARANTHUS-ALBUS SEEDS

摘要
Seed of A. albus L. develop an enhanced sensitivity to the far-red absorbing form of phytochrome after prolonged inhibition at temperature > 32.degree. C. The enhanced sensitivity developed at 40.degree. C could be reversed by subsequent treatment at 20.degree. C and similarly reestablished by repeating a 40.degree. C treatment. Relative sensitivity to the far-red absorbing form to phytochrome may be readily manipulated in seeds of A. albus.
