ESTIMATION OF CROSS SECTIONS FOR COLLISION TRANSFER OF EXCITATION IN HELIUM

摘要
The Stueckelberg formula is used to estimate the cross sections for the collision transfer of excitation of helium atoms: He(1S01)+He(4P3)→He(1S01)+He(4S3)±ΔE and He(1S01)+He(4P3)→He(1S01)+He(4D3)±ΔE′. At T=600°K, the calculated cross sections are Q4P-4Str=0.93×10-15 cm2 and Q4P-4Dtr=2.25×10-15 cm2, as compared to the experimental values (0.35 + 0.03) × 10-15 cm2 and (0.99 + 0.24) × 10-15 cm2, respectively. © 1968 The American Physical Society.
