摘要
In recent years, much progress has been made in the development of liquid chromatographic (LC) detection systems based on chemiluminescence (CL) reactions. Peroxyoxalate CL (PO-CL) is now one of the most sensitive detection methods in LC. For many compounds detection limits are in the low picogram range. In the present review attention is devoted to the optimization of PO-CL detection with emphasis on background chemiluminescence and kinetic aspects. Further, derivatization reactions for various types of analytes with labels possessing good CL characteristics are described in some detail. An overview of, often biomedically oriented, applications is given and the potential of PO-CL for the detection of trace amounts of hydrogen peroxide generated by post-column enzyme reactions is illustrated.
