摘要
A computer-based simulation of a series of insect dives was made in order to evaluate the influence of different factors affecting the oxygen gain during such dives. The results obtained are in disagreement with the data from the literature. Changes in the different factors evaluated (insect body volume, convection currents, initial bubble volume and oxygen uptake) alter the oxygen gain during a dive. The observations made and the results obtained question the importance of the oxygen gain per se for diving insects.
