TC-99(M) AND IN-111 LEUKOCYTE SCINTIGRAPHY IN INFLAMMATORY BOWEL-DISEASE

A comparative study of Tc-99(m)-hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime (HMPAO) and In-111 leucocyte scintigraphy was performed in inflammatory bowel disease. Two hundred and thirty-four patients were studied, 146 had Tc-99(m)-HMPAO, 82 had In-111 and six had both. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the Tc-99(m) leucocyte scan were 96, 97 and 97%, respectively, and 96, 97 and 97%, respectively, for the In-111 leucocyte scan. Tc-99(m)-HMPAO leucocytes demonstrated similar diagnostic accuracy to In-111-labelled leucocytes with improved image quality and reduced radiation dose.
