SYNTHESIS AND DOUBLE RING-OPENING POLYMERIZATION OF CYCLIC KETALS OF GAMMA-METHYLENELACTONES

摘要
Several cyclic ketals of gamma-methylenelactones such as 7-methylene-1,4,6-trioxaspiro-[4.4]nonane (3a), 2-methyl-7-methylene-1,4,6-trioxaspiro[4.4]nonane (3b), and 2,7-dimethylene-1,4,6-trioxaspiro[4.4]nonane (3c) were prepared, and polymerized. The results indicated that the former two monomers polymerized with a quantitative double ring-opening to form high polymers via a cationic mechanism, but the latter monomer under the same conditions generated a polymer with a network structure.
