SUPERRADIATIVE EMISSION FROM CDS MICROCRYSTALLITES

摘要
We observed the excitonic superradiance from CdS microcrystallites. The decay rate due to the direct recombination of an exciton in the microcrystallite was almost proportional to the particle volume, suggesting its superradiative decay property. The radiative day rate was almost constant below a certain threshold temperature and it decreased linearly with inverse temperature. The threshold temperatures for thermal quenching of microcrystallites of 25 and 29 angstrom in radius were measured to be 45 and 30 K, respectively, which corresponds to the calculated frequencies of radial compression mode of 30 cm-1 (43 K) and 26 cm-1 (37 K), respectively.
