IRREVERSIBILITY LINES IN OXIDE AND METALLIC SUPERCONDUCTORS

The effect of flux creep is noticeable on the critical current density, J(c), of oxide superconductors especially at high temperatures. One of the remarkable features of the phenomenon is that the irreversibility line, i.e., the boundary of zero and nonzero J(c)'s, is far below the phase boundary, B(c2)(T). The irreversibility line was observed for bulk oxide Bi-2223 and ordinary Nb-Ti tapes with different pinning strength. These results and results on Y-based superconductors given in literatures are compared with the collective flux pinning theory.
