Melt textured Bi2Sr2CaCu2O(x) samples were produced by floating zone technique. The critical current and its main problems such as granularity, relaxation and irreversibility field were studied by magnetization and ac flux profile measurements. The critical current density j(c) within the a,b plane reaches 6.7.10(4) A/cm2 at 4.2 K for zero external field. For wide temperature and magnetic field ranges j(c) decreases exponentially with field and temperature. The irreversibility line also shows an exponential decrease with temperature. The influence of different criteria used for the determination of both quantities is measured and discussed.
