It is not yet known whether the abundance and distribution of freshwater fish parasites form spatial patterns Here, Rite Hartvigsen and Odd Halvorsen review the main approaches to the study of spatial patterns of these parasites, and propose on alternative approach, based on metapopulation theory and landscape ecology.
