A CHEMOMETRIC COMPARISON BETWEEN PICEA-ABIES AND PICEA-OBOVATA (PINACEAE) IN NORWAY

摘要
Earlier studies indicate that Picea abies and Picea obovata are clearly distinguished by only one morphological character, i.e. the form of the cone scale. In this study populations of the two taxa were investigated chemometrically. The needles were subjected directly to methanolysis, and the released components, dominated by fatty acid methyl esters, were gas chromatographed. Principal components analysis of the analytical data indicate a clear distinction between P. abies and P. obovata.
