摘要
We require a portable voltage standard, stable to better than 3 parts in 10(9) per day, to relate the results of the NPL moving-coil measurements [1] to a Josephson junction array [2]. A 1.35-V commercial mercury cell is better than both Zener diodes and Weston cells for this purpose if it is carefully thermostatted and its decreasing voltage of about 0.3-mu-V/h is compensated by a digitally generated voltage in series. It could also be useful as a transportable voltage standard.
