VANADIUM(V), MOLYBDENUM(VI) AND TUNGSTEN(VI) COMPLEXES WITH HYDROXYOXIMES AS LIGANDS - FORMATION IN SOLUTION, SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION

摘要
The study in water-ethanol solution of the complexation of vanadium(V), molybdenum(VI) and tungsten(VI) by two O-hydroxyoximes, salicylaldoxime (H(2)SAL) and 2-hydroxybenzophenonoxime (H2BPO), permitted the determination of the composition (metal/ligand = 1/2) as well as the apparent stability constants of the species formed in solution. The complexes isolated in powdered form were characterized by methods such as elemental analysis, UV-Vis-IR and NMR spectrometry. A structural hypothesis proposed is that for every complex the coordination number of the central atom is six. The two ligands are bonded bidentately to the metal by the nitrogen of the oxime function and oxygen of the phenolic group. On the other hand, coordination is monodentate in the 1:2 tungsten complexe which contain, in addition to the dioxo function, two chloro anions in the coordination sphere.
