The technique and results of using dermis autografts to repair defects in the anterior abdominal wall was shown. Dermal grafting was used in 15 cases, 7 with extremely large incisional hernias and 8 with defects after malignant abdominal wall tumors. The surgical method was described and the follow-up 1-4 yr postoperatively showed a very satisfactory result in 13 cases. In 1 case there was a postoperative hematoma with subsequent graft necrosis and in the other there was a residual hernial defect. This method is recommended for patients with large abdominal wall defects.
