MODELING AND VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF A SIMPLE ROTOR WITH A BREATHING CRACK

摘要
The equations of motion for a simple rotor with a breathing crack are derived based on fracture mechanics, and the breathing crack model is further simplified to a switching crack model. By using the switching crack model, the conditions for crack opening and closing are derived, and can provide useful information for crack identification. Extensive simulation studies also have been performed to develop feasible techniques for identification of the crack depth and direction based on the response of the cracked rotor to unbalance and gravity. It is found that the vibration characteristics of a cracked rotor are best identified from the second horizontal harmonic components measured near to the second harmonic resonant speed. © 1992.
