摘要
Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) and ordinary graphite were compared with respect to detection limits as excitation targets in a triaxial EDXRF set-up. HOPG as a Bragg polarizer of Mo K-alpha x-rays did not show appreciable advantages over ordinary graphite as a Barkla scatterer. Under relatively wide collimation conditions necessary to obtain a sufficient count rate in analytical practice, HOPG acts mainly as a Barkla scatterer.
