Sum-frequency and second-harmonic quasi-phase-matching gratings were simultaneously optically encoded in a barium oxide-doped silica bulk glass by irradiation with the first, second, and third harmonics of a Nd:YAG laser operating at 1.064 mu m. The X((2))(-3 omega; 2 omega, omega) of the sum-frequency grating and the X((2))(-2 omega; omega, omega) of the second-harmonic grating were 2 X 10(-17) and 5 x 10(-16) m/V, respectively.
