The analysis of fluorescence quenching based on adsorption-desorption equilibrium between Q-CdS and TiO2 allows the determination of the conduction band potential of Q-CdS and the estimation of surface hydroxylation of Q-CdS which takes place in solutions with pH greater than 10. The electron transfer from Q-CdS to TiO2 occurs under activation control, and its rate depends on the potential difference in the conduction bands between the two kinds of semiconductors.
