摘要
Submillimeter wavelengths are rich in spectral lines of atmospheric molecules. Remote sensing using heterodyne spectroscopy at these wavelengths can provide measurements for monitoring changes and studying processes in the earth's upper atmosphere. An experiment for this purpose performing measurements in spectral bands near 63, 183, and 205 GHz is now operational on the NASA Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS). An experiment which includes measurements in spectral bands up to 2.5 THz is currently being studied for future earth observation systems.
