摘要：
This paper examines several new magnetic characterization techniques which are easily implemented using elements of a PRML channel. These techniques are applicable over a broad range of topics. We discuss the use of the PRML digital samples with specialized data patterns to detect defective media sites. We outline a sensitive and calibrated method for measuring fly height variations. Finally, we review a statistical measurement scheme that provides a figure of merit for magnetic performance.
