摘要
The behavior of glassy carbon, platinum, and gold electrodes was studied in a solution of AlBr3 and KBr in aromatic hydrocarbons. No surface processes were observed on glassy carbon. Atomic bromine is adsorbed on Pt giving rise to an adsorption pseudocapacitance peak. On gold a complex pattern is observed due to the formation of different surface compounds such as AuBr, AuBr3, and probably AuBr4-. The initial potential for bromine evolution can be correlated with the chemical rate of bromination of the hydrocarbon, while the position of the adsorption and desorption peaks is essentially independent of it. © 1979, The Electrochemical Society, Inc.
