AN ELECTROCHEMICAL STUDY OF THE OXIDATION OF CHALCOPYRITE IN ACIDIC SOLUTION

摘要
The anodic dissolution of chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) in acidic solutions has been studied using cyclic voltammetry with rotating disc and ring-disc electrodes as well as galvanostatic methods. It is concluded that oxidation occurs by a sequential mechanism, there being an initial rate determining step to produce adsorbed copper(II) ion and then a reaction to produce iron(II) ion. The final ratio of aqueous iron(II) to aqueous copper(II) produced was determined as 5:1. The results are compared with those of other workers and similarities and differences are noted. © 1990.
