THE INFLUENCE OF THE T-ATOM IN CO2TZ ON THE HYPERFINE FIELDS (T = TI, V, CR, MN, FE - Z = GA, AL)

Hyperfine fields have been calculated by the LMTO-ASA method within the framework of the LSD approximation. The hyperfine field at the Co position in Co2TZ changes drastically with the T atom from a positive value for the case T = Ti to a negative value for the case T = Fe. The change occurs mainly in the contribution to the hyperfine field from valence s electrons (H(val)), which is sensitive to the neighbouring magnetic moments. The value of H(val) is roughly proportional to the 'spin polarization' of the valence s electrons at Co atom positions, which is closely related to the density of states of valence s electrons.
