摘要
The threshold photoelectron-fluorescence coincidence technique is used to measure the lifetime of the C 2T2 state of CF4+ resonantly produced by tunable vacuum ultraviolet radiation from the Daresbury synchrotron radiation source. Measurements were made at excitation energies of 21.9 eV (near threshold), 22.3 eV and 22.8 eV. The lifetime has a constant value of almost-equal-to 9 ns, an unexpected result considering the existence of a non-radiative decay channel with varying branching ratio. This result is explained by a competition between the rates of radiative and non-radiative decay at different energies within the C state.
