摘要
Preparation of intermetallic compounds via mechanical alloying has been summarized, especially for Ti-containing systems. The formation of amorphous and/or nanocrystalline powder has been examined in relation with various processing variables. The consolidated materials had very fine grain structure even after annealing at high temperatures. This resulted in good mechanical strength and ductility. Mechanical alloying offered an excellent control of composition and grain size, combined with a dispersion-strengthening effect. Intermetallic compounds with good properties can be produced by a proper control of hot-consolidation or heat treatment.
