Major developments and changes in the nature of electric power systems will occur in the future as new types of central station generation, storage, transmission, and distribution facilities are installed. More customer-generation and energy-storage devices are in the offing and more sophisticated control systems will use a variety of sensors and computers interconnected via extensive data networks.
