EFFECTS OF SALTS ON THE SOLID-MATRIX LUMINESCENCE OF PHENYLPHENOL ISOMERS ADSORBED ON FILTER-PAPER

摘要
The effects of NaF, NaCl, NaBr and NaI on the solid-matrix room-temperature fluorescence (RTF) and room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) of phenylphenol isomers adsorbed on filter-paper were investigated. The RTF signals of the three phenylphenols showed a decrease in intensity with increase in the molecular weight of the salt. However, owing to the heavy-atom effect, the RTP signals increased substantially with increasing molecular weight of the salt. Several quenching models were examined for the RTF data. In general, a modified Perrin model was found to represent the data very effectively because it considered the unquenched fluorescence and other aspects related to fluorescence quenching.
