摘要：

Asymmetrical profiles of the 4430 interstellar absorption band have been obtained by independent methods. The first, by differencing spectra of stars of the same spectral type but different interstellar absorptions, shows a profile steeper to the red. The second, by computer reduction of electronographic spectra, shows the same feature, but also an apparent emission wing to the blue of the normal 4430 profile. It is pointed out that this can lead to a possible interpretation of the cause of the interstellar bands. © 1969.
