TERNARY COBALT CHALCOGENIDES A2COX WITH A=NA, K, RB, CS AND X=S, SE - SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURE AND MAGNETISM

摘要
The compounds Na2CoS2, K2CoS2, Rb2CoS2, Cs2CoS2, Na2CoSe2, K2CoSe2, Rb2CoSe2 and Cs2CoSe2 were synthesized by the reaction of alkali metal carbonates with cobalt in a stream of hydrogen charged with chalcogen. Structural investigations show that all compounds crystallize in isotypic atomic arrangements (K2ZnO2 type, space group Ibam). Susceptibility measurements and neutron diffraction experiments on K2CoS2 show antiferromagnetic coupling of the cobalt ions in the [CoS 4 2 and at low temperatures also between them. © 1990.
