SELF-DIFFUSION IN POLYMER-SOLUTIONS - TEST FOR SCALING AND REPTATION

摘要
We present preliminary results on the self-diffusion coefficient Dself of polystyrene chains (molecular weight Mn=245 000 and 123 000) in benzene, obtained by forced Rayleigh scattering. In the semidilute regime where the chains overlap, Dself decreases with the polymer concentration c as c-1.7±0.1. This behavior is compatible with scaling-law predictions and is the first experimental evidence for the existence of reptation in this regime. © 1979 The American Physical Society.
