NUCLEAR ABSORPTION EFFECTS IN THE ELASTIC-SCATTERING OF B-10 AND B-11 BY AL-27, SI-28 AND SI-30

Elastic scattering angular distributions for B10,11 + Al27, Si28,30 at Elab=41.6 and 50 MeV, B10,11 + Si28 at Elab=33.7 MeV, and B11 + Si28 at Elab=41.1 and 42.1 MeV have been measured. At each energy all angular distributions show similar oscillatory structure for σσR>10-3, except for B11 + Si28, which is comparatively structureless. The inelastic scattering angular distributions of the first excited 2+ states in Si28 by B10,11 at Elab=33.7, 41.6, and 50 MeV, and in Si30 by B10,11 at 50 MeV and by B10 at 41.6 MeV are presented. Relative direct transfer reaction strengths for B11 + Al27 and B11 + Si28 were measured at 49.5 MeV. The differences in the measured elastic scattering angular distributions can be explained by stronger direct transfer reaction channels in B11 + Si28. NUCLEAR REACTIONS: Al27(B10,11, B10,11)Al27, E=41.6 and 50 MeV; Si28,30(B10,11, B10,11)Si28,30, elastic and Si inelastic (Si28, 2+, 1.78 MeV; Si30, 2+, 2.23 MeV), E=33.7, 41.6, and 50 MeV. Measured σ(θ), deduced optical model parameters and Si 2+ deformation lengths. Measured particle transfer cross sections, B11+Al27, Si28 E=49.5 MeV, θL=14.7°, 18°, and 21°. © 1979 The American Physical Society.
