A TRANSMISSION ELECTRON-MICROSCOPY AND DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL-ANALYSIS STUDY OF THE NIZR-H SYSTEM

摘要
Precipitation of the hydride phases beta and gamma in NiZr was studied by transmission electron microscopy. The habit plane for precipitates of the beta phase in alpha and the orientation relationship between alpha and beta was derived. Metastable plates of gamma are observable in the alpha-matrix after electrolytic charging. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) curves reflected the effects of phase transitions in the hydrides, oxidation and outgassing from the hydrides. Using the DTA phase transition temperatures and information from other work, a phase diagram for the NiZr-H system is proposed for the first time.
