摘要
Extinction efficiency from UV to FIR wavelengths were measured for two kinds of gamma-alumina particles; one is commercially available aerosil corundum particles, and the other is a combustion product. It is shown that the spectra showed very broad peaks around 13 mu m and that the features agreed very well with those of the spectrum calculated using data of bulk amorphous gamma-alumina. Complex refractive indices of the gamma-alumina particles were deduced from dispersion relations and are presented both in figures and in numerical tables. A brief discussion is given on the possible presence of corundum dust in celestial objects and meteorites. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
