摘要
Lamellar liquid crystalline phases in equilibrium with excess oil have been discovered at water-to-oil ratios near unity and low salinities in systems containing petroleum or pure sulfonates and long-chain hydrocarbons. These liquid crystals have low viscosities and exhibit low interfacial tensions with oil despite their minimal oil solubilization. Such measurements of interfacial tension with one phase being anisotropic are novel. The measured values appear to be reproducible and independent of the speed of rotation in the spinning drop tensiometer.
