Specific-heat, Cp, data from 0.5 to 20 K for a polycrystalline specimen of Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 are reported. In contrast to YBa2Cu3O7-, the Bi-Ca-Sr-Cu-O and Tl-Ca-Ba-Cu-O systems, Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 shows no evidence of an upturn in Cp/T below 2 K. A Debye temperature, FTHETAD0, of 324 4 K is obtained, and it is found that the coefficient of the linear term in the specific heat, 0, is most probably zero, with an upper limit of 0.060 mJ/mol K2. These results are consistent with Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 being a well-behaved BCS superconductor. © 1990 The American Physical Society.
