APPLICATION OF A RING OVEN TECHNIQUE FOR DETERMINATION OF ATMOSPHERIC AMMONIA GAS CONCENTRATIONS

A technique based on standard ring oven procedures has been developed for the determination of trace quantities or ammonia in the atmosphere. Calibration over the range 1-50 μg m-3 STP of ammonia indicates that ammonia is determined quantitatively to an accuracy of + 50%, - 30%. The detection limit for routine use is 0.05 μg of ammonia so that a sample flow rate of 83.3 cm3 s-1 allows 0.05 μg m-3 to be detected in 200 min sampling time. © 1979.
