BENZYLADENINE-INDUCED INCREASE IN DNA CONTENT PER CELL, CHLOROPLAST SIZE, AND CHLOROPLAST NUMBER PER CELL IN INTACT BEAN-LEAVES

摘要
Primary leaves of intact bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were treated with benzyladenine (BA) at different stages of their growth. BA induced a marked increase in DNA content per cell in growing leaves where no cell division occurred. BA stimulated the chloroplast replication compared with untreated leaves. After the replication period, chloroplast size continued to increase in BA- treated leaves, but not in untreated controls. © 1979 Oxford University Press.
