ELECTROMAGNETIC SCATTERING BY DIELECTRIC SPHEROIDS IN THE FORWARD AND BACKWARD DIRECTIONS

摘要
It is shown that expressions, giving the forward and backward scattering amplitudes for the scattering of electromagnetic waves by arbitrarily orientated spheroids in terms of the respective amplitudes for incidence along the principal axes, hold under various approximations. The Van der Hulst approximation (1957) for spheroids is derived.
