KINETIC-STUDY OF THE REACTION OF A METALLURGICAL COKE WITH CO2

摘要
The kinetic parameters of the reaction of a metallurgical coke with CO2 at temperatures between 1079 and 1327 K have been determined. The coke was obtained from a bituminous coal by pyrolysis at 1273 K in a laboratory furnace. In the conditions of the particle sizes used (+0.125-0.425 mm) chemical reaction was the controlling step. The activation energy determined was 183 kJ/mol, which is in agreement with values in the literature. The kinetic analysis of experimental results was made, using the grain model. A random pore model was utilized for the prediction of variation of the coke reactivity with the burn-off. Good agreement was found between experimental results and those predicted by the model. © 1990.
