摘要
A general expression for the calculation of equilibrium constants and virial coefficients of selfassociating nonideal systems has been established. The derivations are an extension of the multinomial theory for ideal systems (Derechin, M. (1968), Biochemistry 7, 3253). This general expression is applicable to association reactions of any degree of polymerization and is valid irrespective of whether the apparent weight-average, Mapp, or number-average, Mn app, molecularweight is used in the calculations. Using this expression, equations to establish the equilibrium constants K1, K2, K3, and K4 have been derived. Directions for the calculation of virial coefficients are given. © 1969, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
