TRANSIENT DYNAMICS OF A MULTIMODE LASER - OSCILLATION FREQUENCIES AND DECAY-RATES

摘要
A linear stability analysis of the Tang, Statz and deMars equations describing a multimode laser in the antiphase regime is performed. It is shown that when all gains are equal, the system is characterized by two damped oscillation frequencies. As the modal gains become different, the lowest of the two frequencies splits into as many frequencies as there are different gains. All these modes have the same linewidth which scales like the total lasing intensity.
