IRON MOTION IN A 5-COORDINATED HEME MODEL

摘要
It is shown that the iron motion in a five-coordinated heme model is controlled mainly by the gamma-9 out-of-plane vibration in which the iron atom and the axial ligand move like a rigid unit with respect to the rest of the heme, so the heme domes in-phase with the rigid collective motion of the Fe-L unit. A simple model is presented which accounts for the observed strongly anharmonic behaviour of the mean-square vibrational amplitude of the iron atom as a function of temperature.
