摘要
As a precursor to the study of hydrogen-bonded complexes of uracils, the vibrational spectra of uracil, 1-CH3-uracil, 3-CH3-uracil, 5-CH3-uracil and 1,3-diCH3-uracil isolated in low-temperature argon matrices were investigated using Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. All the bases occur as keto tautomers in the low temperature inert environment. Comparison of experimental absorptions with literature data, including recent ab initio predictions, allows a consistent set of monomer frequencies to be established for all the studied uracils. This set is somewhat different from earlier assignments and methylation of uracil has a rather limited effect on vibrational modes which are sensitive to hydrogen bonding. © 1990.
