摘要
Using the IRAM 30 m telescope, we observed CO(J = 3-2) and CO(J = 4-3) emission lines at z = 2.2867 from the gas-rich protogalaxy IRAS F10214 + 4724. We estimate the molecular mass to be 3 x 10(11) h-2 < M(H-2)/M . < 3 x 10(12) h-2 and the gas-to-dust mass ratio as 1500 < M(H-2)/M(d) < 15,000. A comparison of the CO(3-2) line observations from the 30 m and 12 m telescopes suggests that the CO is clumped, with the clumps distributed spatially over tens of arcseconds; no more than half the CO emission is spatially coincident with the galaxy IR-AS F10214 + 4724 itself This conclusion is in keeping with recent interferometric observations of CO(3-2) in IRAS F10214 + 4724.
