摘要
An investigation has been made, using idealised abrasive particle shapes, of the geometry which is produced by fracture of the contacting tips of the particles. The results suggest that particles which rub but do not cut a chip are likely to remain rubbing particles after fracture. A particle which cuts a chip is likely to remain a cutting particle if the attack angle is less than 90°, but is likely to become a rubbing particle if the attack angle is greater than 90°. The overall effect of particle fracture is thus to reduce the rate of removal of metal by an abrasive surface. © 1969.
