EFFECT OF TRUNCATION ON PROJECTED HARTREE-FOCK SPECTRA

The effect of the truncation of basis states on the projected Hartree-Fock spectra of 2s-1d shell nuclei is investigated. An attempt is also made to determine the effect of the strength of the effective interaction on the projected spectra by arbitrarily increasing the triplet reduced matrix elements to fit the binding energies of the nuclei considered. It is found that there is a substantial effect of the truncation of basis states on the energy spectra and electromagnetic properties of the projected states. The effect of the strength of the nuclear interaction does not seem to be as important as that of the truncation of basis states. © 1969.
