The complexes {η3-HB(3-Butpz)3}MCl (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) have been prepared by metathesis of MCl2 with Tl{HB(3-Butpz)3}. Reaction of {η3-HB(3-Butpz)3}MCl (M = Fe, Co) with AgBF4 results in fluoride abstraction and the formation of {η3-HB(3-Butpz)3}MF. The molecular structures of the complexes {η3-HB(3-Butpz)3}FeCl, {η3HB(3-Butpz)3}CoCl, and {η3-HB(3-ButPz)3}CoF have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Crystal data for {η3-HB(3-Butpz)3}FeCl: C21H34N6BFeCl; a = 16.075 (5), b = 15.958 (4), c = 9.792 (4) Å; orthorhombic, space group Pnma (No. 62); Z = 4.
