SESQUITERPENOIDS FROM THE LIVERWORT RICCIOCARPOS-NATANS

Five novel sesquiterpenoids, three monocyclofarnesane derivatives and two cuparane derivatives, were isolated from the liverwort Ricciocarpos natans grown in axenic culture. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of 1H and 13C NMR studies including proton-proton and proton-carbon shift correlation techniques as well as NOE difference spectroscopy and by means of high resolution mass spectrometry and IR spectroscopy. In addition to these new compounds, (-)-limonene, cuparene, phytol, and lunularin were present in this liverwort species. © 1990.
