摘要
The oxidation of Ce films on Pt(111) by O-2 and N2O and the thermal properties of the resulting oxide layers have been studied by a combination of LEED, Delta phi measurements, XP and Auger spectroscopy. Reaction with N2O results in the formation of {0001}-oriented Ce2O3, whereas O-2 generates {111}-oriented defective CeO2 containing about 20% Ce3+. Annealing results in partial reduction of these oxide layers and at similar to 1100 K a Pt/Ce surface alloy is formed, characterised by the appearance of (2 X 2) and (2 X 2)R30 degrees structures. The implications of these findings for the catalytic behaviour of Pt/ceria systems is discussed.
